Virginia Taking Its Turn on the Punching Bag

It appears that Virginia's Surry County Commonwealth's prosecutor has decided today is the day to catapult his name into the national spotlight by seeking an indictment against . . . you guessed it, Michael Vick:

"Most of the matters that I'm presenting have already been admitted in sworn statements authored by the defendants in the federal proceedings," [Surry County Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald G.] Poindexter said.

He couldn't detail the exact indictments he will pursue, but said the local investigation and the federal investigation largely focused on different crimes.

"The killing of dogs is one of those statutory prohibitions. Dogfighting is a crime, the mistreatment of animals is a crime, so you could take your pick, or take them all," Poindexter said before cutting the conversation short. "I don't have anything else to say about it. I'm through with it. Hopefully it's coming to an end."

When he says hopefully it's coming to an end, I am certain that he means the indictment process and not the circus that will be his rural county courthouse, which I'm also certain has seen its fair share of crimes involving animals . . . HA.

Let's just wait and see what the charges are. While I'm sure Poindexter (what a name) is salivating over the idea of putting a Vick conviction on his resume, I am interested to see how willing he is to put Vick's career on permanent hold. Especially since he was already angry at the Feds for moving in on this case before he was able to charge Vick under state law. When he appeared to be taking his sweet time, the Feds decided to go ahead with the federal charges, and here we are.

More than likely, there won't be a trial because of the admissions made in federal court, but there will be enough hearings with this Poindexter guy to feed the late night comedians for at least a week.

The saga continues . . .

I'm not going to waste time being PC. First let me start off by saying this might be the bullshit case of the century. YES, dogfighting is illegal. This fact is being pushed down our throat like allergy & erectile disfunction pills but let the spins on this matter speak for themselves. When you say "Dog"fighting it invokes a certain sympathy to cute, cuddly pets that some (idiots...) dress up, put in little bags, play frisbee with or even let them lick you in the mouth.( to each his/her own). i'll go go as far to say this though, if a pitbull even as much as wandered on to this blog most of these same "Dog" lovers would shit & run at the same time. Pitbulls are fighters. They were bred in fighting arenas to be vicious. I'm not a fan of Pitbull fighting(i think it's rather silly of anyone including Vick) but this is what it is, PITBULLS. Not Lassie vs Rin Tin Tin or even a pitbull vs your boutique poodle. No one really likes pitbulls & everytime you turn on "Animals attack.." or see a "dog" attack in the news there is a pitbull involved. So why are we being lead on to even imagine that these "Dogs" were anything eles but animals bred for the sport. Well in order to attract public sympathy we have to soften the viewer to make them become sensitive to this situation. So we say "dog" instead of "pitbull" to make you feel like scruffy was in a war with satan & nasty Vick is the Don King of this shit. Well "oj" (i meant ok) since he is guilty of "benji fighting", you think a fine would be sufficient? Make it 5 million & probation. Make him clean dog kennels after every game. I know career criminals who recieved more leniency for crimes against humans & they still have a job. To take this man and make him less than a human by subjecting him to such unfair & bias scrutiny is sad. Not for Vick( he's has his own personal hell now) but for people who think that they are on this moral high ground with dogshit all over it. I hope none of you mofo's ate a burger or some chicken today. I'm a vegetarian!

I'll co-sign most of your sentiments...Except the jab at people who dress up their dogs.

Only once. At Christmas time! Okay, and Halloween. And Kwanzaa. But that's it!

PNC: guess what I'm being for Halloween?!!! Hint: it relates to this very post!

I've been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
